Product Designer

Over the last six years, I helped teams craft digital products that are easier for people to use and built for scale.

I worked with startups in different segments, such as real estate, finance, marketing, and communication tools, getting the opportunity to build products from the early stages through testing. This page is my portfolio, where I share some of my experiences.

Rocket.Chat

Oct 2021 · Present

I'm currently working at Rocket.Chat, an open-source communication platform, crafting tools for communities and companies to communicate safely at scale.

Voice channel component on an ongoing conversation at the sidebar.

Governments, highly regulated industries, and companies that care about protecting customer data choose Rocket.Chat to communicate internally and externally.

Composition showing different states of the dial pad component used for dialing new voice calls on Rocket.Chat.

Teams can connect social media accounts, email, and phone numbers to centralize all communication in one place. They can also integrate with CRMs or other proprietary apps.

Warren

Nov 2019 · Sep 2021

Warren is a financial platform that helps people invest by organizing their assets in portfolios to achieve life goals. I joined the team to work with portfolio creation, monitoring, and goal tracking.

Warren app lists one investment portfolio named “My Home”.

After talking with a virtual agent, the customer receives a personalized investment portfolio that considers an objective like "buying a new house" or "making a trip" and combines it with optimal allocation and risk tolerance.

🗞️ "Warren is the largest asset manager in terms of managed portfolios in Brazil."

Editing investment allocation inside the wallet through a style sheet.

The app rebalances the allocation to follow the recommended strategy and correct for market oscillations. This also simplifies the recurring investments, the client makes just one transaction to the portfolio, and the app allocates the funds to suggested assets.

Editing investment allocation inside the wallet through a style sheet.

We built the same logic to enable investors to create custom portfolios. A fantastic project in collaboration with the professional management team to expand the app possibilities, accommodating a fast user base growth.

I could prototype, test and validate different options and versions to refine the delivery, also taking advantage of an enthusiastic user base that always helped us to improve the product.

We follow a similar process to introduce new modules like saving accounts and stoke option. I could conduct remote usability tests for the first time, pushing our design and meeting tools to their limits.

Onboarding experience for a new feature.

I could explore new stacks and learn a lot at Warren; I'm grateful for all my leaders and colleagues, Rodrigo GrundigAlisson RochaArev SteffenMarina ZardoRafael Macho, and many others.

Deskfy

Apr · Oct 2019

Deskfy is a startup that helps marketing teams manage their digital assets. Through this experience, I have discovered these teams' difficulties when managing and sharing global campaigns.

Illustrations are used to inform the request status inside projects.

A market campaign requires multiple digital assets like photos, documents, and videos from different teams and sources. All these assets are valuable in various stages of the process, be essential to find them anytime.

Deskfy home screen shows the organization widgets that are more important for each team.

We built the file management that allows these teams to store and organize all their assets. When uploading the files, they could categorize, place tags, and custom fields for each asset—making it easy to find later all related images to a campaign.

The file upload on Deskfy has an intermediate step to edit metadata and organize tags.

We also built a place for these teams to organize marketing requests, manage their teams and prioritize tasks, enabling collaboration and fast feedback.

Being the only product designer at the company required a high level of organization. To test new ideas fast and ensure a consistent customer experience, I set up an interface library with all the components designed for the platform.

Widgets are used on different product areas, following the same design patterns.

I am grateful to work aside a fantastic young team, Victor DellortoLucas BraumLeonardo BorkCalvin GerlingGabriel Kunst, and Vinnie Rodrigues.

Bcredi

Jun 2018 · Jan 2019

Bcredi is an online platform designed to assist homeowners in obtaining mortgages. I've learned that mortgages offer the lowest interest rates for individuals in Brazil. Still, using your home as collateral for the loan requires significant time and effort.

To understand and organize which document we need to ask in each step of the process, I search for help from all the areas of the company to document the user's journey.

With this information, we improved core customer experiences, like the sign-up registration and the entire mortgage request process.

These mortgage requests fold documents from different persons and houses, required for legal reasons. Multiple persons have access to write their information, a process that takes some days, so we make sure to always saves the customer's progress.

We organize and separate the forms into sections to create a perception of progress and signalize the request status. The result was a consistent system that helped collect and organize all the data in one place.

I am very grateful for the trust and collaboration of my designer lead, Sauro, and my colleagues, Alexandre Dieter and Luigi Domingues, on this project.

IFPE

2016 · 2018

I study graphic design at the Federal Institute of Pernambuco (IFPE), where I also worked on my first digital product, an experimental mobile app built by me and my colleagues Arthur PedroLarissa ThaísBruno Correia, and Jéssica Leite.

The challenge was to solve a real problem in our classroom using the design process to research, test and validate our ideas.

Our group noticed that setting up the classroom projector to make presentions always took much time and disturbed some classes. We constantly face connection issues with cables, blurred lenses, or incompatibility between the programs' versions.

We started our research to understand this problem better by conducting a semi-structured survey on campus with teachers and students from different grades, making it possible for us to listen to real stories and see how they impact their classes.

To find more related problems, we also created a Hierarchical Task Analysis (HTA) to study other user journeys, like using a wireless controller to pass slides on the projector.

This initial research showed us that teachers and students from different grades face similar problems with setup projectors to use slides and present media. Similar issues are founded: HDMI cable not working, compatibility version, and manual lens adjustments.

We prototyped an app that controls the projector through a fictional Bluetooth-HDMI plug. We also conducted usability tests with students that helped us identify improvements that resulted in a more refined app version.

We built the app to be very simple; on the homepage, we can see the projector connected and two presentation modes: screen share and document file.

To make the first setup, the app guides users on an onboarding flow, where we illustrator key steps to calibrate the projector.

Users could make advanced adjustments on the settings pages, like changing the perspective, calibrating the lens focus, controlling the light intensity and colors, and framing.

This project was a fantastic learning experience that I am very proud to build. We used some free resources like Inter UI font created by Rasmus Andersson, the Feather icon pack developed by the StdLib team, and the illustrations of the Isometric Devices Lineal pack available at Flaticon.

About me

My story with design starts by learning pixel art using Paint to create scenes for my character on an online game—Habbo, around the year 2010. After some time, I learn new tools like Inkscape for vectors and GIMP to manipulate images. Two open-source tools responsible to introduced me to the design community.

In high school, I took a mid-term course to learn more about design tools like Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and CorelDRAW. It was when I started doing small graphic design projects, which led me to move to Recife sometime later to start my bachelor's degree in graphic design at IFPE.

Outside of design, I love to visit the beaches around my city, play online games with my friends, and take pictures of my cat in action.
